With Fitbit Pay , you can add your credit and debit cards to certain Fitbit devices. Make contactless payments right from your device—even when you’re traveling internationally.

Which Fitbit devices support Fitbit Pay?

Fitbit Pay works with Fitbit Charge 4, Fitbit Ionic, Fitbit Sense, Fitbit Versa 2, Fitbit Versa 3, and editions of Fitbit Charge 3 and Fitbit Versa that contain an NFC chip. To check if your device supports Fitbit Pay:

  • Fitbit Versa: turn your watch over and look for 'Fitbit Pay' in the text surrounding the heart-rate sensor.
  • Fitbit Charge 3: remove the bottom band and look for 'Fitbit Pay' printed on the end of the tracker.
Where can I use Fitbit Pay?

Use Fitbit Pay to purchase items in any store that accepts contactless payments or to ride select transit systems. To determine if the store accepts Fitbit Pay, look for the symbol below on the payment terminal:

Use Fitbit Pay on transit readers that accept contactless credit or debit card payments, such as Sydney's ferry and light rail networks. For more details, see How do I use Fitbit Pay to pay for transit?

How do I use the Wallet?

The Wallet section of the Fitbit app is where you add and remove payment cards for Fitbit Pay, set a default card for your device, edit a payment method, and review recent purchases. If you lose your device, you can also suspend the cards on it for added security.

To open the Wallet, tap the Today tab > your profile picture > your device image > Wallet.

Follow the steps below, or scroll down to watch our video (English only).

To start, add at least 1 credit or debit card from a participating bank to the Wallet section of the Fitbit app:

  1. With your device nearby, tap the Today tab , and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image, then tap the Wallet tile.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to add a payment card. In some cases, your bank may require additional verification. If you’re setting up Fitbit Pay for the first time, you may be prompted to set a 4-digit PIN code for your device. Note that you also need passcode protection enabled for your phone.
  4. After you add a card, follow the on-screen instructions to turn on notifications for your phone (if you haven’t already done so) to complete the setup.

You can add up to 6 cards to the Wallet (5 cards for Charge 3 and Charge 4), and choose which card to set as the default payment option on your device.

To pay with your device:

All customers except those in Australia:

  1. Open the Fitbit Pay screen on your watch:
    • Ionic, Versa, and Versa 2—If you chose Fitbit Pay as your button shortcut, hold the button on your watch for 2 seconds to activate it. Otherwise, swipe down from the top of your screen. After your notifications appear, swipe down again to open the control center. Tap the Fitbit Pay icon .
    • Sense and Versa 3—Open the Wallet app . For faster access to Fitbit Pay, add it as a button shortcut in the Settings app > Shortcuts.
    • All other devices—When you’re ready to pay, press and hold the left button on your device for 2 seconds. Swipe to the Payments screen if it's not shown.
  2. If prompted, enter your 4-digit watch PIN code. Your default card appears on the screen.
  3. To pay with your default card, hold your wrist near the payment terminal. To pay with a different card:
    • Charge 3 and Charge 4—Tap the screen to find the card you want to use, and then hold your wrist near the payment terminal.
    • Ionic, Versa, and Versa 2—Swipe up to find the card you want to use, and then hold your wrist near the payment terminal.
    • Sense and Versa 3—Swipe up to find the card you want to use, and tap it. Then hold your wrist near the payment terminal.
  4. When the payment succeeds, your device vibrates and you’ll see a confirmation on the screen.

If the payment terminal doesn’t recognize Fitbit Pay, make sure the device face is near the reader and that the cashier knows you’re using a contactless payment.

Note that the Payments screen might be hidden if you haven't set up Fitbit Pay. If you don't see the Payments screen, follow the instructions in How do I set up Fitbit Pay? to add a card to your Wallet.

Customers in Australia:

  1. If you have a credit or debit card from an Australian bank, hold your device near the payment terminal to pay. If your card is from a bank outside of Australia, or if you wish to pay with a card that is not your default card, complete steps 1-3 above.
  2. If prompted, enter your 4-digit PIN code.
  3. If the purchase amount exceeds $100 AU, follow the instructions on the payment terminal. If prompted for a PIN code, enter the PIN code for your card (not your device).

If the payment terminal doesn’t recognize Fitbit Pay, make sure the device face is near the reader and that the cashier knows you’re using a contactless payment.

For added security, you must wear your device on your wrist to make payments with Fitbit Pay.
What can I do if my bank or card isn't supported by Fitbit Pay?

In many countries, you can use a payment app, such as Revolut. Download the app on your phone, and connect your existing bank account. Add your new digital account to your Fitbit watch by following the instructions in How do I set up Fitbit Pay?

Use Fitbit Pay to tap on and off at transit readers that accept contactless credit or debit card payments. To pay with your device, follow the steps listed in How do I make a payment with Fitbit Pay?

Note: Pay with the same card on your Fitbit device when you tap the transit reader at the start and end of your trip. Make sure your device is charged before beginning your trip.

Can I use my Fitbit device to pay with OMNY in New York City?

Use any supported card in your Wallet on OMNY readers at certain NYC MTA stations and buses. For more information about OMNY, see MTA’s related article.

To pay with an American Express card that you added to Fitbit Pay before May 17, 2019, remove the card from your Wallet, and then add the card as if you’re setting it up for the first time. For more information, see American Express’s help article.
Can I use my Fitbit device to pay for transit in Singapore?

Use Fitbit Pay on trains and buses in Singapore. For a list of supported cards, see the Singapore section in our Supported Banks and Transit List.

To pay with a Visa card that you added to Fitbit Pay before February 26, 2019, remove the card from your Wallet, and then add the card as if you’re setting it up for the first time. If you continue to have issues, contact your bank for more information.
How do I change the default card on my Fitbit device?

When you're ready to pay, your default card appears on your device's screen. To change your default card:

  1. In the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab , then tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image, then tap the Wallet tile.
  3. Tap the card you want to set as the default option.
  4. Tap Set as Default.

To change the order of the cards on your device:

  1. In the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab , then tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image, then tap the Wallet tile.
  3. Tap Edit.
  4. Hold and drag the bars to change the order of the cards. The first card is set as your default card.
  5. Tap Done.
Do I have to enter a PIN code to make a payment?

When you set up Fitbit Pay, you’re prompted to set a personal 4-digit PIN code.

To authorize a payment, enter your PIN code the first time you use Fitbit Pay since last taking off your device, or if it's been 24 hours since you made a payment.

Do I need to have my phone nearby to use Fitbit Pay?

You don’t need to have your phone nearby to use Fitbit Pay. After you set up Fitbit Pay, you can make payments from your device and leave your phone at home.

Where can I see a list of transactions made with Fitbit Pay?

Many banks allow you to see your 3 most recent transactions made with Fitbit Pay in the Wallet section of the Fitbit app.

To see your recent transactions:

  1. In the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab , then tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image, then tap the Wallet tile.
  3. Tap the card you added to your device and then swipe up to see your 3 most recent transactions.

If this feature isn't available for your card, or if you want to see all of your Fitbit Pay transactions, review your bank or credit card statement.

Why was my Fitbit Pay transaction declined?

If your payment was declined, contact your bank for more information.

Fitbit Pay includes many security features. Fitbit Pay uses an industry-standard tokenization platform to ensure your card information is never revealed or shared with merchants or with Fitbit. Fitbit Pay also requires you to use a personal 4-digit PIN code for an added layer of protection.

After you delete a card from Fitbit Pay, the card is removed from the Wallet and you can no longer use it to make payments with your device. If you locate your device, add the card to Fitbit Pay as if you were setting it up for the first time.

  1. In the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab , then tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image, then tap the Wallet tile.
  3. Tap the card you want to delete.
  4. Tap Remove Card.

  1. From the fitbit.com dashboard, click the gear icon > your device image.
  2. Click Fitbit Pay.
  3. Click Deactivate Fitbit Pay. Your cards are deleted from Fitbit Pay and can no longer be used to make payments with your device.

If you misplaced your device, you can suspend the card you added to the device instead of deleting it from Fitbit Pay. When you suspend a card, it remains in your Wallet, but you can’t use it to make payments with your device. If you locate your device, you can unsuspend the card and then use it to make payments.

To suspend a card:

  1. In the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab , then tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image, then tap the Wallet tile.
  3. Tap the card you want to suspend.
  4. Tap Suspend Card.

To unsuspend your card, repeat the steps above and then tap Unsuspend Card.

What should I do if I lose my Fitbit device?

If you lose your device, you can remove or suspend the cards you added to the device using the Wallet section of the Fitbit app. If you lost both your phone and your Fitbit device, you can log into your fitbit.com dashboard on a phone, tablet, or computer to delete the cards you added to Fitbit Pay*. You can still make payments using the physical debit or credit cards, so contact your bank if the cards were lost or stolen.

Keep in mind that no one can use your device to make a payment without first entering your personal 4-digit PIN code.

*Note that if you use Suica on your Fitbit device, pressing the Deactivate Fitbit Pay button in the fitbit.com dashboard doesn’t remove or deactivate Suica. Contact Fitbit Customer Support to deactivate Suica.

Can I use Fitbit Pay internationally?

You can use Fitbit Pay when traveling internationally at stores that accept contactless payments. Note that foreign transaction fees may apply to purchases made internationally depending on your bank’s policy.

Do I earn points or rewards for purchases made with Fitbit Pay?

When you make purchases with Fitbit Pay, you’ll continue to earn points or rewards that your credit or debit cards provide.

Can I use a gift card with Fitbit Pay?

Currently, gift cards don’t work with Fitbit Pay.

I want to give my watch to someone else—what should I do?

Factory reset your device to erase apps and all personal data from the device*. For instructions, see How do I erase my Fitbit device?

*Note that if you use Suica on your Fitbit device, erasing your Fitbit device doesn't remove Suica. Before giving your Fitbit device to another person, remove Suica in the Fitbit app.

I entered my PIN code incorrectly—how do I unlock my watch with my phone?

If you enter an incorrect PIN code 10 times, you're prompted to unlock your Fitbit device in the Fitbit app. For instructions, see How do I use the device lock on my Fitbit device?
